What is inside your dreadlocks?

How many times have you heard that dreadlocks are dirty and disgusting?

The most common thought people have about dreadlocks are that they are filled with dirt and animals. Is this realy true? I`m reposting a video to show what is inside of dreads.

Recently, while brushing out dreads, I have seen a bit diffrent view from what you see in this video. We found white dust looking material inside from the top to bottom of the dread. I`m not sure if it was build up residue from chemical shampoos or just accumulated dust and dirt. I will rather not share a photo of it :) ...I think if you use organic residue free shampoo for your dreads and you wash them regulary, you will have them nice and clean. Also good to remember that your health condition in general is responsible for the health of your scalp and hair which many people don`t realise. Eat well and take extra zink if your hair looks dry and brittle.
